Mission to Mexico
2024
A New Journey started coming back to Quintana Roo Mexico. Despite my grieving for the loss of one of the Members at the Board of the charity, I tried my best to be ready for this mission.
The Church of The Inmaculada Concepción de María. Father Gregory Woodward and Father Ángel, provide me a room and facilities to serve their community.
I did have to purchase a new portable chair that Doctor Fanny Chan from Yucatán and I could use to perform our dental service.
A day before the mission started we organized the room to make sure we were ready to start. Trying to check if the Portable Dental Unit was working properly I discovered that it was not working. Frustrated and stressed, I didn’t know what to do. Dr. Fanny Chan recommended a technician who could come and take a look, at that time it was late afternoon and he was not able to come until the next day when the mission started.
I explained the situation to him and he did his best to come a little early before we were supposed to start. He was able to change so many wires to connect the air, water and pressure for the Dental unit, part of the problem is that the weather is hot and humid almost all year long. We did start on time, and I was grateful to be ready.
About 120 people received Dental care between cleaning, exams, fluoride, filling restorations and extractions. Major work, Dr. Chan will continue after the mission at her small dental office nearby.
100 people received reading glasses and sunglasses, they were very pleased because at this place the sun during the day is very strong.
Families who needed help plus members who were sick when I went to visit them. I was able to bring a shopping bag with groceries and pray with them for their needs. It was a very hot day, but I made it. Carina and her husband Manuel selected the families and they transported me to the store to purchase the food and deliver it to the families. They are a very nice couple who are always willing to help.
During the meals I was able to enjoy delicious food from Veracruz, Alicia is always willing to cook to make sure I build up good energy.
The children were very happy with their Dental care and waited to receive a toy and a Holy Rosary.
I was very touched during the visitation to the families. There was a man who just lost his wife, and besides grieving he is also facing nose Cancer. He is not Catholic but he allowed me to come to his house and to pray for him. It was a very special moment. During my prayers, tears were coming out from his eyes, and he just giving life, he mentioned he didn’t want to leave anymore. I gave him comfort and hoped he would get better.
A miracle happened, after 3 months I checked on him and he was still alive. He is still facing cancer but not pain, eating small meals but no pain. Praise The Lord.
The weather was very hot but I am so glad I was able to be back and serve with Love, and be able to help.
Thank you
for the donations I received to be able to accomplish my dream.
God Bless you all!
