In Early August I went to Peru, Chiclayo. It is always very nice to see the people waiting at the airport when I arrive. It was a long trip to Panama and then 5 more hours to get the next flight to Chiclayo.
At this mission we visited a few towns, Villa Hermosa sector 1, Villa Hermosa sector 2, Laguna El Sarco, Motupe, Callanca Monsefu and Las Canteras Patapo. Everyday I had 5 Dentists. Father Alfonso organized very well and his niece Itala, who is a Dentist, brought college friends and was very helpful because we got to see many people.
Every day we provided hair cuts, reading glasses and at the end of the day we visited 5 families daily to bring a grocery basket. Children and Adults receive these services and we saw 1,200 in total. I brought 160 reading glasses with different prescriptions but it was not enough.
People at Chiclayo are very friendly and I always feel comfortable. 25 people received their grocery basket. We also prayed the Holy Rosary together.
Ada who has been helping to give the reading glasses when we were at Canteras Patapo, she said, “An older women came with 2 friends holding her hand because she does have difficulty to walk and seeing, she had only 1 pair of reading glasses and was informed that there were no more glasses left but let’s try what we have, miracle happens, she did try the reading glasses and the Senior woman said: I can see, I can see. Her vision became clearer after she tried the glasses.”
It was a beautiful mission, very busy but it was a joy to see people happy to receive dental care, hair cuts, reading glasses, groceries basket and toys for the children.
Thank you so much to all the Dentists who came and helped. For some of them it was their first time and they had a great experience and they are willing to participate in future missions. Thank you to Father Alfonso for using his car and transporting daily our mobile dental clinic.
I need to purchase 2 beach folding chairs to be able to seat more patients.
Many Blessings always for your support which allows me to reach out and take care the needy.
